CIA Insurance Summer School Program to Help Cultivate Next Generation of Industry Leaders
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 6, 2024 — Commercial Insurance Associates kicks off its annual Insurance Summer School internship program this week and will take six college students through a 6-week program.
“Not a lot of universities offer direction in risk management or insurance, and the program is our way of providing some exposure to the business while they’re still undergraduates,” says Gary Bynum, Director of Human Resources for CIA. “These are some talented individuals, and we are delighted to have them join us this summer.”
This year’s interns are:
- Cooper Alexander, a finance major at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro
- Holly Boutcher, double major, pre-law and global studies, University of Tennessee, Knoxville
- Daniel Brooks, finance major, University of Tennessee, Knoxville
- Alex Dean, economics major, University of Georgia, Athens
- Tom Husband, finance major, University of Tennessee, Knoxville
- Prescott Neal, finance major, University of Tennessee, Knoxville
With resources provided by The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers as the foundation, the CIA Summer School Program provides participants with the basics of the insurance business, its history, and its role in the larger US economy. Each participant is matched with a mentor, who develops a roster of activities and training coordinated alongside the curriculum, including client calls and meetings with insurers.
“Raising up and supporting the next generation of insurance leaders is the responsibility of every insurance business,” says Scott Denbo, Chief Executive Officer for CIA. “We’re pleased to be doing our part.”
